Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus Germanicus, otherwise known as Caligula, was born on August 31 A.D. 12 and died on January 24 A.D. 41. He was the emperor of Rome from A.D. 37 - 41. Caligula's mother was Agrippina the Elder. He was also a member of the Julio - Claudian dynasty. Germanicus was Caligula's biological father, and Emperor Tiberius is his great uncle and adopted father. Originally, he was supposed to share the throne with Tiberius's biological grandson Gemellus. He was a tyrant, and wanted to increase the Emperor's limited power. It didn't result the way he planned it, however. Caligula was afterwards assassinated by some of the officers of the Praetorian Guard along with courtiers and senators. It is said that during the first
