Gaining Compliance:
Gaining compliance is getting somebody to agree with a recommended course of action. For example in an antenatal ward, if a client comes in who is a smoker, you would try to get her to quit, without coercing. For example, a good thing to say would be “How about we try to cut down on cigarettes; today you can smoke 10, tomorrow you can smoke 5, and after that only 2, until you can quit. This is because it is healthier for your baby if you do not smoke in your pregnancy”. Making it seem easy and do-able will encourage the client to do the recommended course of action. Trying to persuade clients to do something may not always work though, because it is only one person trying to influence another to do something. However everything the professionals do on an antenatal ward for the mother, are with her and her baby’s health at thought. Such as my example, the professionals know that it is bad to smoke during

Physical contact has to be done appropriately as some physical contact may not be appropriate for certain clients, especially new clients that the professionals do not know at all. The clients need to make it clear if they are comfortable or not with the physical contact, otherwise it can be awkward. Physical contact can be shown by gestures like hand on the shoulder, patting on the back, etc. It is important for gestures made by a professional to remain appropriate, so the clients do not think they are being suggestive by giving them a hug or getting too close to them. An example of appropriate physical contact is if a client is in slow labour, and not yet in the delivery suite, when contractions occur a midwife can hold her hand, so the client can squeeze it when she’s in pain. Or she could pat her on the back and tell her she’s coping very well. Clients can benefit from physical contact as it can make them feel more supported and reassured. It can also make them feel less isolated and

I would have to say that this is an example of obedience conformity. Obedience is when you have to change according to an authority figure. So since the employer has this policy in place. If the employee wishes to stay with the company then I am sure that they are going to have to follow the policy that the company has set in place. They are not coming to an agreement or disagreeing with the company.…

I explained how physical contact is not needed for comfort, which makes physical contact invalid as a comforting response needed. If this is ruled out, the only contact that could be established is from handing pillows to passengers and tucking them in after providing blankets. This is ridiculous to me. I realize the planes in the 60s and 70s were cold, so blankets and pillows were consistently provided. But the fact that some grown men needed to be tucked in by female flight attendants is crazy to me.…

Great post! I agree with you that the nurse should be aware of the patient's birthing plan. The patient can include skin-to-skin contact in her birthing plan. I also agree with you that the registered nurse can offer the skin-to-skin contact to the mother. While offering it to her the nurse could also explain the benefits that it provides.…

According to Berman and Fransen and Snyder (2016) explained a few things that a nurse can do to make the client comfortable is to get to know one another and gain trust from the client. The first step is to introduce yourself to the client and let the client know your role as a nurse. Relaxed conversations regarding the weather, or a simple comment regarding how beautiful a piece of jewelry is that they are wearing can create a relaxing atmosphere. If there is any resistance in the conversation the nurse needs to display interest in the client and express that you care about the client which will help gain trust of the client. Once a client feels less anxious they will be more willing to open up about their concerns (p. 423).…

The Invisible Hand can be used to describe benefits that were not intended, because of their actions. It basically means that, what you do pursuing your interest can benefit others more than what you meant it to. Invisible Hand can also be described as self-regulation on the market, so people can profit without anybody interfering. It is most often used to work on the free market, consumers going for lower prices and entrepreneurs going for the highest profit. I do agree with this, because even if it is not your primary concern to help your community, some good comes out of what you do.…

Some of my strengths when it comes to test taking over two years of practicing NCLEX style questions are: being able to critically think, reading the question and being able to identify what is being asked. Some of my weaknesses when it comes to test taking are time management. Although, I have tried my best to manage my time there are questions that require us to carefully analyze them.…

The value I chose compliance. Compliance is seen a lot throughout the first few chapters as we get into the book. In this Community, if you do not use compliance, there will be consequences. The Community leaders are very strict on the rules, and failure to follow them could lead to a serious punishment. One text evidence that shows compliance playing a big part in the Community is, "Today a repeat offender had been brought before her, someone who had broken the rules before.…

When dealing with the patients I used verbal and nonverbal communications. I started each conversation by introducing myself as a nursing student and give the client time to respond. My interactions were interpersonal I talked to each patient about their life and what led them to the psychological facility. For an example one was unwilling to communicate upon first meeting me so I stayed close by with relaxed posture and spoke with other client then returned to the original client, based on my body language and how I interacted with the other clients, he then felt comfortable talking with me.…
