In the beginning, there was only Chaos. Out of Chaos, Gaia was born. She was one of the many primordial deities. Gaia was the goddess of the earth and mother of many of the first-generation gods. She is also the great mother of all creation and life. Gaia is the mother and wife of Ouranos, the sky. The titans were the children of Ouranos and Gaia. One of these children, was the titan Kronos. He was husband of his sister Rheia, and father of Zeus and other deities. Like father like son, both Ouranos and Kronos were bad fathers and husbands. Ouranos angered Gaia when he imprisoned their children by pushing them back into Gaia’s womb, the hidden places of earth.
