Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s unique style of writing, Magical Realism, is a mix of imagination and reality that was molded by his unconventional upbringing. Gabriel Garcia Marquez travelled from city to city seeking jobs as a journalist for various newspapers, he landed in Venezuela and met his later to be wife, Mercedes Barcha. They got married on March 27, 1958 and by 1962 they had both of their two sons, Rodrigo and Gonzalo (Estorino). In 1999, Gabriel was diagnosed with lymphatic cancer and was undergoing treatment when his death was incorrectly, prematurely reported and announced in a Peruvian Newspaper in 2000 (Fulton 4; Gabriel Garcia Marquez Famous Authors). He was officially announced dead on April 17, 2014 in Mexico City, Mexico at the age of 87 from pneumonia (Echevarria).
