Straight-backed, uniformed wait staff crisscrossed the floor of City Hall’s ballroom. With silver trays held aloft, they glided effortlessly through the crowd, their blank expressions cleverly masking the tedium of serving champagne and hors d'oeuvres to equally bored guests. Dozens of white-clothed tables adorned with elaborate arrangements of hydrangeas and magnolias gave refuge to the honored attendees who were either too tired or too disinterested to mingle with the men and women gathered in cliques throughout the room. From their position on a small raised platform, a string quartet provided a pleasant auditory backdrop to the chatter of voices, the dulcet tones swelling and falling like a warm summer breeze. It was the party event of the year, and for the mayor’s wife, the soirée was an opportunity to gain the enviable reputation of perfect hostess; for her guests, it was a grandiose display of autocratic superiority.…

My first stop on the hunt for government offices and or buildings in Snyder is the Scurry County Courthouse. I had no problem finding this building due to how it's located in the center of town and all the main roads lead to the "square" where the Courthouse is located. The buildings address is 1806 25th street. Lainey, Ellis and I met at the building so we could take pictures for each other around 5:42 p.m. and there was no one in the parking lot except our own cars, but there was a bit of business due to people getting off work. The Courthouse is surrounded by various boutiques and a business that serves ice cream and coffee.…

The flight to Panama was long and bumping as I flew aboard a C-141, this aircraft is no longer in service. As I departed the aircraft, I was met by oppressive heat and humidity. As I looked around my new surroundings, I could not help but think that it looked as if someone had laid a giant green carpet over the landscape. It was definitely the most beautiful country that I had seen and, in my opinion it still is. The tarmac was busy with all kinds of activity going on.…

June 17, 1972 is a date that changed America for years to come. For on that day Richard Nixon signed his death sentence on his presidency. That was the day of the break-in at the watergate hotel, the home of the 1972 democratic national convention headquarters. Watergate prolifically changed the way that we as americans think and how we as americans act through politics. Without Watergate who knows what our current political system would be like?…

The prison official, Rick Hudson, invited me to tour the maximum-security lockup in northeast Amarillo.…

Of the 75 people who answered the ad, 24 were selected after answering a battery of questions regarding their family, personal and mental health history. The 24 selected were judged to be the “most stable…most mature, and least involved in anti-social behaviors” (Haney et al., 1973). These subjects were informed they would be randomly selected to play the role of ‘guard’ or ‘prisoner’ and that ‘prisoners’ should expect to be under close surveillance throughout the experiment, as well as lose some of their civil rights during their ‘imprisonment’. ‘Guards’ believed the purpose of the experiment was to study the behavior of prisoners. They were given a pseudo orientation during which they were informed of their work and administrative duties as ‘guards’.…
