The experiment consisted of a total sample size of n=145 subjects all of whom were current GVSU students ages 18-28 years old. Inclusion factors for subjects included knowledge of their overall Grade Point Average (GPA) and had to be current GVSU students. Subjects were not eligible for the study (exclusion factors) if: they were non-GVSU students (due to inconsistent grading scales across universities), if they were incoming freshman (incomplete overall GPA), and if they did not know their current GPA. Further descriptive data regarding subjects is on (table 1, appendix A).
Variables/ Measures: GVSU students were the subjects for the research and target population. The accessible population was solicited through GVSU-related online resources, including class email rosters, GVSU-only Facebook groups, and by word-of-mouth. Using a convenience sample for the study, participants completed an online survey through SurveyMonkey (Appendix A). All subjects gave anonymous responses after being informed of the general purpose of the research. The survey included questions to specify the participants academic career such as major, year at GVSU, and whether or not they transferred. All other statistical analysis were calculated via an One-way ANOVA test (using JMP software) due to its ability to compare three or more categorical variables. It is important to note that an ANOVA test only analyzes the (mean) differences between the categorical variables selected. In the event of a statistical significant results, there must be several follow up test in order to assess which variables are significant in terms of the overall
