GTV Reflection

Decent Essays
As the Internal Advertising Editor, my role is to maintain GTV updating slides with current content and events going on in the school. Although my role for the yearbook seems very small I have found that it is really important to the students of GCI. I am the one informing them all throughout the day about upcoming events such as spirit days, dances, and even sports events and intramurals. At the beginning of October I was introduced to GTV and the set up. On October 6 I completed my first update of GTV. I found that even though I was sceptical at first of how much I would excell it this role, I found myself really enjoying myself discovering new tools and creating different slide with themes such as the Haramball slide informing students about intramural handball in the large gym or creating an eye catching pep rally slideshow hoping to boost school spirit and reminding students to check out our cool new spirit wear hoping to raise sales. I have also been contributing to other aspects of the yearbook while GTV is steady. I was able to help resolve our theme issue giving a strong argument on why our Dr. Seuss theme would be easy to execute. I worked closely with our Editors Jordann and Michaela at the beginning of the semester to create our ladder, I played a key role in organizing the sports section of the ladder, Jordann trusted me to balance out the sports in different seasons as well as making sure we had a good balance and flow throughout the sports section on our ladder. I have helped organize and distribute yearbooks both during lunch as well as during my MSIP and spare periods. I was able to help the External Advertising team with their

When I returned to Williams, I used the skills I gained to improve the organization, communication, and public branding of our student theater company. This spring, I also managed a festival of new works on campus organized by the Theatre Department, becoming the first student to ever manage a department event. A lot of my work as the Festival Production Manager involved close communication with the production teams, as well as the administrators of the festival. My role allowed me to connect with everyone’s artistic motivations and inspirations, teaching me how best to support their endeavors from a managerial standpoint while also furthering all of their creative desires. It also afforded me the opportunity to oversee multiple financial, scheduling, and production logistics that resulted from organizing multiple events in unison.…

Senior year, I became co-editor of the high school yearbook in a time of upheaval. Not only did yearbook no longer have a set class time, but the new yearbook teacher also had no experience with publications. Slowly, the after-school yearbook organization was whittled down to eight regularly contributing members. To meet the deadlines, my co-editor and I took action to reorganize the page assignments and to put in more hours at home. We also began communicating more with other members to ask for their input on pages.…

Having the position came with many responsibilities. One thing I really focused on was bringing the chapter together with activities including: a fashion show, various contests, and a lock-in with games. Another aspect I hit on was recruitment. I organized an assembly for the middle school to briefly show them the National FFA Organization and what the chapter has done and what it can potentially do at local, state, or even national levels. I received my Greenhand and Chapter Degrees during my first two years.…

Using the 5 dynamics tool, I discovered several working style characteristics about myself that I really had not previously thought about. The application of this new knowledge will improve the way that I work with other people in my education, my career and in my personal life. For example, I learned that if I partner with others whose strength and weakness are different from mine, working together as a whole we will obtain better results than we will if we work separately. Furthermore, I learned that each team member brings different strengths to the project thereby producing a more balanced result. As a result of taking the 5 dynamics assessment, I discovered that I have valuable strengths that are especially beneficial in developing…

Clinical Summary in Simulation Center Simulation is an effective teaching strategy that engages students’ critical thinking skills with use of low to high-fidelity mannequin (Billings & Halstead, 2012). Learning how to connect theory and practice in a simulated environment encourages students in competency of psychomotor skills, communication with a collaborative team, and confidence level. As I participated in the clinical simulation environment there were different themes including teaching effectiveness of clinical faculty, student preparedness, and availability of resources. The clinical faculty members were present for support and allowed students to perform the skills and provided feedback. There were some students who were prepared and competent in skills while others needed coaching and help from their peers.…
