GPA Reflective Essay

My GPA is not a valid indicator of the amount of work that I have put in through each semester. In my first year of taking business classes, I had been pledging for a business fraternity for 10 weeks and the workload was equivalent to an internship which hindered my time in focusing directly on school. My second year of college, I had taken up the responsibility of paying for my own living expenses, including rent and meals. To pay for that, I began working as an intern at an accounting firm. As rewarding as it is to be able to learn skills ahead of time, I wanted to further my experience by taking accounting practicum. During my sophomore year, I learned how to file taxes for people within our community through accounting practicum and how to file taxes for nonprofits through my internship.

The Integrated Master in Professional Accounting Program is beneficial in every way, and I want to take advantage of the opportunity to learn more than what is already available. Coming into college, I desired to broaden my skills to help a variety of people and I like that accountants can reach that range. I want the ability to not just help people from low socioeconomic standings, but to also work with large firms in

What I have learned through pledging for 10 weeks was the unrelenting power of teamwork and how unique individuals with different skills can come together and surpass expectations. I acquired the skills to work with clients, that require accounting help, through auditing and accounting techniques at my internship. I learned the necessary competence through shadowing an independent CPA over a summer which inspired me to find my potential through individual growth. Most recently, I have recognized how impactful accountants can be when it comes to educating the community in regards their

Honestly, I am not a very motivated person. I tend to try hard in school for the sole purpose of receiving an A. I never had thought of learning as an activity, but rather a priority. A priority that exists once again, for the purpose of getting an A. In my head, if I received an A, I would feel secure and my life would be able to move along smoothly. Receive a B, and my whole world would stop. Sadly, it seemed almost impossible for me to receive even close to a B when it came to writing.…

From my undergraduate career at Case Western Reserve University, where I studied Economics, I learned a lot about myself in an academic sense. I learned that I was good at understanding complex concepts introduced in these classes. I found that I had a very deep interest in finding out how the business world works, and how different analytical tools can used to make sense out of data collected from our society. The economics classes that I took, along with a healthy side of mathematics and Russian language courses, helped me to shape the approach I have taken since graduation in May of 2013.…

Throughout high school, I have been involved in many activities. I started off with the STEM academy in my high school. In the STEM academy, we held special events that teach people, especially kids, about new experiments and science-related careers. I helped out the STEM academy by explaining people about the experiments, the purpose behind the experiments and cleaned or organized lab equipment. I was a part of the STEM academy for approximately three years in high school and I really enjoyed it because I knew I could make a difference in my community.…

Naveen, Thanks for submitting your paper on time, I sure do appreciate that. To the paper, you got off to a great start and provided a wonderful introduction, but you failed to connect your argument for the clinical, academic, research, and policy roles of doctors to your personal beliefs and values. Also, several times in the paper as you talked about these roles, I felt that you missed the opportunity to talk about your personal feelings about the issues of patient surveys, medical education, research and policy. In addition, I would have been stoked to see more information in the paper about the physician taking on more advocacy and leadership functions, as I agree with you that this is very much needed. Honestly, it seems like you almost depersonalized the paper, when I really wanted you to…

Three years into my high school I hadn't gotten into the state of mind that most over achievers have. Being a consistent 2.5 student wasn't satisfying or inspiring. Uniquely enough, I had decided to take challenging courses my junior year.…

In this essay, I will explore what accounting and finance is and why I have chosen to study it at the University of Birmingham. Accounting and finance are two separate disciplines that have some similar characteristics. The main difference between accounting and finance is that finance focuses on the present and future whereas accounting focuses on the past (Aspillera, 2014). The University of Birmingham is amongst the top providers for accounting and finance due to its credibility, infrastructure and status making it one of the best routes towards a successful career. Accounting is “the art of recording, classifying and summarising business transactions” (Raun, 1962).…
