GPA Does Not Justify Me

Decent Essays
In my opinion, my GPA does not justify all my skills and knowledge. Just like Yeni, I have always been and A-B student, and have always been on the honor roll. My College GPA is not something I dont take pride in, but I would not say it justifys me, who I am, and my work ethic. Every course I take I always try my best in. Recieiving a grade lower then a B is never something I strive for. I always like to make sure I excell in everything I do. In life, we do not always get what we want. There will be ups and downs throughout anyones journey in life. If I recieve a C it is not the end of the world, but that C does not justify me as a person. I am a college student who also works a vigorous job, that is also very time consuming, and requires a

In “Why Elite-College Admissions Need an Overhaul”, Jonathan R. Cole, the author of the essay, made a very strong argument on why the college admissions process is not right or fair. Within his argument, Cole states what elite colleges look for now, why what they look for is wrong, and what colleges should do instead of their current process to prove his point. I agree with Cole in his statement that the college admissions process needs an overhaul because there are some phenomenal students who are being looked over by colleges. Although I agree with his statements, I do not necessarily agree with the way Cole thinks the process should be.…

I believe that I am very ambitious both in school and outside of school. By being ambitious I am able to achieve good grades in school. Being ambitious to get good grades, I complete any assignments that are assigned in my classes. The beginning of my undergraduate career is not impressive and not worthy of holding the title of a PA. A student’s GPA is important in order to be accepted into a medical school or any other healthcare professional school, I was well aware of that, but I did not hold the maturity to excel in my academia. However, I’m grateful to realize my mistake halfway through my semester and searched for help to turn the downhill route my grades were taking. In attempts to remedy my subpar GPA, I added a second major to help with my overall GPA; however, I did not choose a major that would be considered easy, but I chose Psychology, a major that is challenging. It soon became evident of my success in throughout the rest of my undergraduate years.…

Attending UACCB has benefitted me because it has allowed me to obtain my associates degree in one to two semesters of being out of high school. Being allowed to take these classes while in high school has given me the option to start my career earlier than most kids my age. I have taken 15 college classes, and while I have struggled at times to keep up with having high school and college classes, I have gained so much respect for myself because I have been able to see what I can handle. I have conditioned myself to taking three high school classes with sixteen to seventeen college hours. My college classes have boosted my GPA.…

While my overall GPA is not anything to write home about, it does reveal something about me. I began my college education attending California State University, Long Beach directly out of high school, but I had no drive of vision for what I wanted to do with my career so I did not go to my classes and eventually dropped out of college to pursue other avenues. After I found my love for teaching I immediately began taking classes that would provide me with the ability to make my passion my career. From that moment on at California State University, Long Beach I have been on the Presidents or Deans list every semester showing that my competency and understanding of history and teaching are at a high level. In short, my GPA shows that I have a passion for what I will be teaching, which often translates to the…

As any student knows, grades are reflective of their accomplishments in a given class. However, grades mean much more to students than whether they know the material or not. Grades mean whether or not someone will get into their college of choice, whether or not they have to retake that class they had failed as a result of an emotional semester, whether or not they are hired for a position against someone who graduated with a higher grade-point average (GPA). Students are under more duress than ever to be academically excellent because of the mounting pressure in the American education system. This pressure is due to GPA inflation and expectations of above-average academic performance.…
