Firstly, having GPAs as the decision to pass kids into sports or not encourages these students to work hard in their studies. With the GPAs being raised, and kids getting smarter, it increases the overall atmosphere of a place and can really make a difference in the way a class runs or a student behaves. Grades are very important, and with the help of the students and faculty can help implement an overall great change all throughout a community. The article argues, “Administrators saw students go to college in athletic scholarships but then flunk out soon after because their grades were too low. Superintendent Bruce Hoover said, ‘it was kind of a sad statement about our district,’” This depressing fact shows what could happen if the GPAs aren’t implemented. Just imagine what a community would be like with the great efforts of all the students! To conclude, an argument could be put up saying GPAs shouldn’t be implemented because all students should have a chance to play, regardless of grades. If schools just let any kid play a sport, whats the benifit in it? The child is getting terrible grades and is getting rewarded for it! Sports should be for the kids who do deserve something like a sport and get treated because of their efforts in school.
