What If The Government outlawed GMOs Should GMOs be outlawed by the gov. The problem is GMOs are bad for humans and animals. People call GMOs ANTI-HUMAN (Adams 2012), and those people don’t want them in their food. What would happen to the farmers if the Government outlawed GMOs? The farmers would have to change their way of farming, because a lot of farmers in the country use GMOs in crops and pesticides. Actually 196 million acres of crops in North America are G.M. crops. That is almost half of all U.S. farm land (Cumnins 2014). When they first started using GMOs they only used it in weed killer and pesticides, not enhancing crops (Rock 2014). Over the last two decades G.M. seeds have steadily grown (Rock 2014). The first GM food was a tomato in California (Cumnins 2014), and after that they started to genetically modify other plants.
