I am interesting in applying to PLFSOM because I have a desire to ultimately become a primary care physician that works in underserved communities. Coming from a rural area, I know what a lack of providers in a region can do to a community. I have spent a lot of time in border towns since my dads family is originally from Mexico and I have been able to see first hand that even the biggest of border towns still has a very big proportion of their population that is underserved. Right now, I already use my Spanish to help the Spanish speaking patients that we see at our clinic but my Spanish medical terminology is not as strong as I would like. Being able to get my medical education from a school so close to the border would help me become the…

By joining the Plan II Honors program, I hope to learn about the discoveries in our world and understand how people think. I also want to develop my critical thinking skills and gain knowledge in different fields and understand how they interconnect.…

During my internship experience, I learned a lot of things that I thought I knew but are misconstrued on. With that being said, I know everything must be done in decent order or this will cause chaos and lead to confusion. I also learned everything takes patience and is very time- consuming. I became frustrated, so many times and just wanted to give up, but I had to remind myself that hard times are going to come and everything is going to work out. Many times I sat on my bed crying because it seems like everything piled on me at one time.…

Throughout my highschool years, I have reflected upon how I have grown as a global citizen and as an academic student. These reflections are usually based upon different projects I have completed in class or presentations that were assigned to me, but this year has allowed me to reflect on unique experiences. I have become more aware of the situations that happen in the real world; this has strengthened my skills for college and my future career, which shows my growth as an academic student. This semester I have also started an organization here at school that both shows my growth as a global citizen and will, in hopes, help the community, and the people living in it. This year, the junior class, along with the senior class, was assigned the…
