GENED 1000 does not focus on giving homework, assignments, or tests. In GENED we focus on how to; finish assignments, take tests, study, and take notes. Not everything we did in GENED focused on in class coursework. We also learned about financial aid, campus life, diversity in college, taking care of your health, and taking control of your future. My top ten list of important items I learned in GENED would be: financial aid, study skills, test taking skills, finding out our strengths, staying motivated, problem solving, working in a team, setting goals, learning about studying abroad, and learning how to remember what you just read in the text. …show more content…
We learned about how much it costs to go to school nowadays, and how important it is to stay on track to graduating in four years so you don't waste money. Also, we learned the differences between grants and loans, and learned when we had to start paying back loans. The advisor talked about the different scholarships that you can apply for. It helped grasp the broad topic of financial aid.
Staying motivated was one of the lessons we went over in class. Staying motivated is one of the biggest reasons why some students graduate and some don't. In class, we filled out a SMART goals worksheet, where each letter in SMART stood for something different. S was specific goal, M was measurable, A was attainable, R was realistic, and T was timely. We had to fill out a weekly calendar and write what we had to get done each week, so we would stay motivated and on
