After completing my GCSEs this summer, I hope to continue my education as a member of Lady Manners Sixth Form. I have enjoyed my time studying at the school and feel that I have gained a good education, whilst at the same time having opportunities to develop my skills and personal qualities by taking part in a variety of extra-curricular activities. I wish to build upon this positive experience as a member of the Sixth Form and make the most of all that the school offers.
I feel that each of my option subjects are appropriate for me to study at A Level as my predicted GCSEs suggest that I will be capable of studying them further and I am keen to do so.

I am a keen reader and look forward to developing my understanding of different authors, their styles of writing and the literary devices used in their work.
Whilst wishing to study some of my current subjects at a higher level I would also like to take on the challenge of learning about a new subject dissimilar to those I have chosen previously. Therefore my third choice is Media Studies. I have decided to opt for this subject at A Level as this is a subject I find intriguing. The impact of media, both official and social, on the world we live in today is vast and so a greater understanding of the impact of the messages and way our opinions are influenced is something I am keen to explore in further detail.
My fourth and final option is Religious Studies as I am very passionate about this subject, as I feel that an understanding of other people’s ideals and belief systems is essential for creating a better more harmonious society than we live in today. I am looking forward to expanding my existing knowledge and looking further into this particular subject and all that it

The SCOIS interest survey proved that I am mostly interested in Health Science and Human Services. I completely agree with this mainly because I have always loved to help people. My goal is to either be an RN in a local hospital or be a combat medic in the army. Both of them involve helping others and medicine during critical moments. Growing up I always played doctor…

This critical reflective account will discuss the development of me as a leader and manager within my health profession and my team, over the course of The Mary Seacole Programme. I have identified my leadership strengths and my personal development. This course has encouraged me to reflect upon my vision and style of management, and has allowed me to further identify areas that I will need to enhance into making me a more versatile leader. Part 1 Developing my leadership skills is important for me given the circumstances that as a first time leader whose job role previously didn’t involve having a team managed by myself, to a position now who manages or interact extensively with staff and patients daily, therefore during my time undertaking…

During this summer session of ENGL101A, I have learned multiple ways to express myself through my writing. In fact, before signing up for this class, I did not know the proper way to compose an academic essay for a particular audience, and how to properly cite my sources. Nevertheless, after the short summer session, I am able to define my purpose and audience, analyze critically any piece of information, and write with proper citations and fewer grammatical errors with confidence. Through the short time of 5 weeks, I learned how to focus on my audience as well as how to define the purpose of my papers as academically as possible.…

Pre-Experience Journal Entry I was born to be an engineer. I grew up playing math games, building lego sets, and taking apart electronics. My Senior Capstone Experience (SCE) will definitely be in the area of engineering. More specifically, I would love to do either computer science or electrical engineering, as these are the areas I want to major in when I go to college. I came to GSMST because I have always had an interest in engineering, and GSMST has only made that interest stronger.…

Learning to write When I attended elementary school, part of the curriculum was penmanship. There was a certain segment of instruction dedicated to penmanship rather than writing. We were given large sheets of oat colored paper with three parallel lines widely spaced. The alphabets were used to print and write in cursive using the midpoint, and upper lines for capital letters. The handwriting grades were based on neatness and readability.…

I have applied for my chosen courses as I believe that they will aid me in my future aspirations. I have taken all three of my choices at a GCSE level already, and I thoroughly enjoy them. I would consider them to be some of my favourite subjects. I am in the top set for Physics and Design Technology (RM), and although there are no sets for geography, I believe that I am a high achiever. Geography has increased my awareness of the world around me, and how it works.…

My passion for Chemistry started in year 7, the teacher I had for science made the subject interesting and fun, so I looked forward to every science lesson I had. The areas of chemistry that interest me are inorganic and organic chemistry as you can learn a lot about how and why different substances react in different situations. I also enjoy physical chemistry, because it allows you to apply chemistry to life situations. In addition, the skills I have learnt from chemistry are varied.…

Taking the subjects I have has given me experiences and valuable skills that would be advantageous in pursuing a chemistry based degree. For example, coming into contact with different spectroscopic techniques such as mass spectrometry, which is used in pharmaceutical industries, has allowed me understand how and why these techniques operate and be analytical. An aspect of my A level course I have particularly enjoyed is the synthesis of organic molecules and polymerisation. The medical uses of polymerisation is one of the most interesting parts of Chemistry, especially how the subtle differences in monomers can completely change the properties and uses of a polymer. Polymers play a vital role in drug delivery and innovate ideas have spanned…

After finishing the English 101 course I feel like I have accomplished many of the goals that I was challenged with the beginning of the course, such as critically thinking and reading with text from the textbook “Dialogues” by Gary Goshgarian, substantively replying to my peers to understand their point of views from the text and to get a better understanding of a rhetorical argument. Thinking and reading critically were very important this whole course. Thinking and reading critically were something you would have to do in every assignment that was given. Incorporating it in every assignment has helped us greatly improve week by week and betters our understanding of each topic and the assignments main idea.…

Dear First Year Writing Assessment Committee: In this letter, I will explain my learning outcomes and experiences with my essays for English 1010. English 1010, defined by academic standards, is to develop in first-year college writers a deeper understanding of the complexities of writing through instruction and guided practice in the skills, processes, and strategies necessary for effective, successful writing. In my past semester of English 1010, I was able to demonstrate my abilities to be an effective writer and enhance my writing skills through guiding essay projects. I do believe my abilities were improved in topics including: finding the author’s purpose, explaining ideas, revising, editing, proofreading, organizing the structure of my paper, and etc.…

Everyone hates English class is what I thought before taking English 102. However, that may have been the case before I entered Dr. Byrd’s domain, but after finishing the class I have come to the realization that English class can be greatly resourceful. English 102 this year has had its ups and downs, and I must admit the ups outweigh the downs. Meaning, this year, I have learned that I am not a student who wants to read or write, but through reading and writing my mind and skill sets concerning English have grown. During English 102 this year, reading and writing in class helped me expand my writing skills, improved my will to comprehend, and most importantly helped expand my knowledge.…

When I began studying at the University of Montevallo, I had a background of high school creative writing and English classes, and one summer of a college English class. To be honest, I was terrified of jumping into my fall English 102 class. I felt I was unprepared for a serious college level composition class, and that I would have a strenuous time adjusting to a four-year university. However, as I walk away from my English 102 class I carry the understanding of writing a college level essay, undertaking research and completing a research and argument paper properly, and knowledge to prepare me for my other classes and profession.…
