G. I Bill Pros And Cons

Decent Essays
I chose the topic of the G.I. Bill because I wanted to learn more about it and how it works. I never knew that there were different kinds such as the Montgomery, the Montgomery Selected Reserve, and the Post 9/11 bills and that you had to apply for the benefits. I learned many things from choosing this topic. I learned that Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the first G.I Bill, called the Servicemen's Readjustment Act, into law in 1944. I chose the brochure to use for this topic because I thought that it was the best way to present the information. I thought this because the brochure provides 5 columns to sort the information and it gives the reader a very good understanding of what the G.I Bill is. I sorted the information into 5 categories, what

The selection process of this project was that of a difficult one, however, one historical figure stood out like a white elephant because there was little attention attracted to him. Warren G. Harding, the 29th President of the United States, was an interesting topic because his legacy was tainted post-presidency, but the lingering question was why his presidency was a failure, and why he should be considered the worst president of all time. This topic did have some competition, however, another option that was captivating was, the Red Scare. It was an interesting topic because it had the potential to be a fun project, because it would have been an easy cause and effect essay. Ultimately, however, it came down to originality and challenge of the essay, and Warren G. Harding’s presidency fit the mold.…

One of the more recent issues we have in Canada is the passing of the Bill C-10. The Bill C-10(also known as the Safe Streets and Communities Act) is a law that passed in March, 2012. When the Conservatives introduced this bill they wanted to get it passed as soon as possible, so when they put it through The House of Commons, many people could not fully read through the bill and have a proper understanding of what it’s actually proposing. The bill has nine separate measures. The measures include replacing the pardon system with ‘record suspensions’, mandatory minimum sentences for certain sexual offences, and mandatory minimum sentences for certain drug offences, making it illegal to give sexually explicit information available to a kid, increasing…

I chose the 15th amendment, section 1, because I feel it was such a heartfelt issue for African Americans because of their skin color and acknowledgement to being subjected a slave. I wanted to know more about how did my race come about reaching their goal of being able to finally vote. It’s also important to know about history in general, like how things happened, came about, for us to be living the way we do now and how things have changed over time. If it wasn’t for this specific amendment being passed, African Americans could still have problems today trying to cast their vote. So my interest is on being appreciative of what our race went through for a long time to appreciate how good we have it now.…

The background that you gave on the American public’s reason for distrusting the government allowed me to connect and understand the controversies that the POW/MIA issue brought in the post-war years. While, such cases as Watergate and other acts to cover up engagements that took place on the battlefield during the Vietnam years, the American pubic had the right to question and feel betrayed by their government. However, despite their doubts in the government, I would challenge the doubt that the POWs and MIAs had been accounted for and brought home. In your post, you used the quote by Robert Garwood, who claimed that there were still POWs in Southeast Asia to stir the emotions of the families that had known or had loved ones labeled as missing in Vietnam. I would raise the question of whether his statements were based on truth or to gain attention from the press because of his tension with the government.…

My topic is about the Gold Rush of 1849 in the United States History. In January 24, 1849, James Wilson Marshall found gold in California, when he founded gold, it caused many people to move to California to look for gold. The reason why I choose this topic is because that it was super important at that time. Gold was very valuable and from the 1800s to today, it is also the reason why that California is the most populated state today. What interest me about choosing this topic is that a football game name was named the 49ers because gold was found in 1849.…

My target date was September 21, 1945. This date was shortly after the end of World War II. Many of the news articles and advertisements in the newspaper were overflowing with reports about the war and detailed post-war life and the nation’s recovery to some form of normality. Since this is referenced from a Georgia newspaper the articles are specific to things that were going on in the state of Georgia during this time. I pulled and discussed some of the articles from the paper that pertained to topic of post war effects the war had on the nation and post war events in Georgia.…
