Throughout our time in Foundations with Dr. Cramer, we learned a lot about the view of the future. Our view of the future is important because what we think about the future determines the way we decide to live our lives in the present. One idea about the future that we learned through Dr. Cramer’s teachings and Skye Jethani’s book, “Futureville”, is the myth that is so often taught in Christian society today, that our futures are only important if they are used in ministry. The idea of an evacuation heaven is that God is going to destroy the world so what we do on Earth besides saving souls is irrelevant. The idea of resurrection heaven is that our world will not be destroyed but will become heaven through God’s transformative powers. This means that what I do now is important because it is going to last and not be destroyed. Sometimes it can be difficult to understand why I have to take classes that do not seem important to me. As a Public Health major I do not enjoy taking a computer science class or an art class, but as I discussed all of these things are equally important to God. This means that the more I understand there different areas the more I understand what is important to God. Having this knowledge allows me to have better relationships and understanding with those around me and a better relationship and understanding with God. Putting these ideas into practice has allowed me to understand God more which has strengthened my relationship with Him immensely and has allowed me to find shalom in my
