I took Introduction to Social Work my first quarter as I wanted to find ways to help people in a general sense. During the second quarter I took an Art Studio class, which helped me to understand more about the art therapy aspect of trauma treatment. In the future, I plan to take Psychology classes to create more understanding behind the types of patients and individuals that I may encounter at my future clinic. In talking to my academic adviser, I have been told of the various pathways that can help me in reaching my goal of helping trauma patients. By majoring in fields like business, humanities, or social work, The University of Washington Tacoma can help to create a road to my future facility for trauma patients. In quarters to come I plan on utilizing the courses offered at the University of Washington Tacoma to help me narrow my major options. I knew going into this year that I would no longer dream of becoming a singer in a band, or a dancer for an audience— for my dreams now exceed far beyond the scope of my own horizon. I now include future generations of traumatized individuals whose seemingly dark lives I would like to touch with my new-found light. If my facility can create change amongst the pained, traumatized individuals of society, then my goal will be achieved and reflected by future, functioning, societal
