Social work back in the day around 2500 B.C. Ancient Hebrews were required to give tithe to benefit the poor. This was considered an act of social working. 373 B.C. King Ashok helped create the first social services known as the abacus, which was used to keep track of the donations. 325 A.D. Emperor Constantine, a Christian church set up a variety of social services such as; elder care, hospitalized, and orphanages. Back then social workers manually hand wrote everything . They didn’t have laptops, computers, or cell phones. They couldn’t google things or electronically type up documents. In 1985, a book called “Computer in Human Services” came out and it discussed the need for computers in social service and counseling. Soon after published, computers and technology were put to use. Things have definitely evolved for social workers literary wise.

People want them to be somewhat pros at technology. I believe in the future social workers will have everything done electronically. They won’t ever need a pencil or paper. I believe they will start carrying Ipads around and making documents in the notes of the Ipad. I believe social workers will stop the need of typing out phone calls and voicemails and invent an app that will do it for them. I believe technology will take over this job and everything literary wise will be taken care of by voice activated computers and cell phones. I honestly believe the relationship between a client and social worker will strengthen because they will be able to talk more. If technology expands to the point that it becomes voice activated and will type up the conversations that will lead to a better relationship between the client and social worker. I say this because the social worker will be able to focus better on what the client is saying versus trying to write down what the client is saying and hold
