Through the APTA’s vision of “transforming society by optimizing movement to improve the human experience,”1 I will grow as an individual and as a professional in the field of physical therapy. Many of the Guiding Principles will lead me to always strive for excellence to provide the best treatments for each patient.1 As a future physical therapist, I will develop skills necessary to make a positive difference in the world and transform society.1 I can do this by learning to be an advocate for the profession. Being able to clearly describe my area of expertise and the benefits of my profession to others will help the community have a better understanding of physical therapy. Through research and continuing education, I will be able to make the most beneficial recommendations and provide the best treatment methods relating to patients’ goals. Continually improving my treatment methods and getting patients better by more efficient means will most likely lead to increased referrals by word of mouth. I also plan to formulate educated opinions about policies in this profession.
