Future Of Foods Documentary Analysis

Decent Essays
Based on evidence from the film “Future Of Foods” i don’t think people that have worked for corporations in the past should make new policies. In my opinion i think that it would lead to more problems. Some of these problems would include the people to be bias towards their former company. People passing policies that can affect their previous company or companies can greatly impact other rival companies. An example would be, Monsanto wanting to have to right to patent seeds. If an official for the government that had previously worked for Monsanto might just give them that right. Examples of government officials giving them the advantage would be, they would know how many more opportunities they would be able to gain.

Monsanto is a powerful company with a history of making what many would find questionable or unethical business decisions in the quest for profits. “Many stakeholders are concerned about the moral and safety implications of genetically modified food” (Ferrell & Hartline, 2014). If I were Monsanto’s CEO, to balance the conflicting needs of the variety of stakeholder groups that the company must successfully engage, I would first place labels on the products. Although the FDA determined Americans do not need to know when they consume genetically modified products the company would state the fact on labeling like it does in other countries. Also, I would continue to donate to programs that focus on improving communities in developing countries.…

After completing the three-day food log for my project, I realized that keeping track of food that I consume daily is very beneficial in identifying habitual eating patterns. I was amazed to find out that I was not choosing healthier foods as well as not enough calories in my diet. The Dietary Reference Intakes (DRI) committee has set an equation to calculate Estimated Energy Requirements (EER) based on gender, age, physical activity, and body size and weight (Sizer, Whitney, & Piche, 2012, p. 372). EER estimates the energy needed to meet the daily requirement to improve health. My daily activity places me in the "low active" category, which means my physical activity factor (PA factor) is 1.12 (Sizer et al., 2012, p. 373).…
