The future nursing will be changed due to the political reasons, including the Affordable Care Act (ACA) that was signed into law. Because the ACA mandates all Americans to have insurance coverage, the health care delivery system will be restructured to rely on the following: (1) expansion of the role of licensed providers, such as registered nurses, licensed nurses, pharmacists, and physical therapists, (2) increased use of unlicensed personnel, including medical assistants and other non-clinicians, (3) patients who assist other patients with similar conditions by becoming “peer coaches”, and (4) continued expansion of telehealth services (National Council of State Boards of Nursing, 2014).
