I realize that addiction can be an amazingly difficult problem to treat. I know that it takes a strong minded, experienced sponsor to help individuals find their way to sobriety. I also believe that recovery must go beyond just being sober, and a mental health counselor is in a better position to help with compounding issues that a person who suffers from addiction faces. Subsequently, my focus will remain on social justice in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) community while maintaining a robust educational background in order to aid individuals who suffer with addiction. Thru the work at a local facility based housing program dedicated to persons who deteriorate from addiction and HIV, I will be better served to eventually open my own private practice and perhaps teach. A software developer is responsible for computer programming and does activities such as designing, installing, and testing software. An information security analyst is responsible for planning and carrying out ways to protect and ensure security for an organization’s computer networks and systems. Each of the 3 careers I chose received a high rating for salary because based upon my sources, all of the careers are payed very high and the salary should be enough to support the needs of an average family and have money for the family’s wants.…

My deep-seated belief that mind, body, and environment are interconnected, and my commitment to helping others improve their overall (not just physical or mental) wellness, as well as hopefully preventing illness in many cases, are my main motivations for wanting to be in the health field. From my childhood, I watched various family members struggle with food and substance addictions as a means of coping with life stressors, and I also observed their health deteriorate from the damage they were doing to themselves by not managing stress and anxiety properly. I hope to increase my knowledge throughout my graduate studies such that I can implement what I have learned to help individuals that otherwise might not understand how they can prevent many illnesses through behavior modification. That being said, one of the classes that had a…
