Future Career Goals

During the course of my class I have realized that there are a lot of things to consider when it comes to looking for a future career. Originally I just thought that the most important thing in life was just doing what makes you happy. Under this illusion I was assuming to get out of the Army and become a health and wellness or fitness coach. I know that I would like to continue my degree and career in the medical field, but where do I begin. For my unit 4 assignment at Kaplan, we were tasked with doing a research on a website provided to us by our professor. Here are the some of the results of this research. Some of the questions I plan on answering are; what do I currently do and where do I plan on taking my future. I also intend on talking about some of the skills and principals needed in order to have a successful career in the medical industry. Currently I am a dental assistant in the US Army. I have already been working in the medical field now for over 13 years in the United States military. To those who have not yet had the opportunity to work in this particular field, they are going to have to learn some key principals in order to have a successful transition into the medical field. One of those principals you should learn is to do not talk to the patient as if they know your job. This sounds like something that would not happen often, but people tend to get comfortable with there job position, and start talking to patients as if they should already know the common terms in the profession. As a health care provider you have to be aware to not begin to become to complacent. Remember to talk to the patients as if they do not know the common terms. Even if the patients understand, always talk to them in the simplest
