Futura Research Paper

Improved Essays
Futura was a typeface designed by Paul Renner, a Prussian-born artist who spent most of his life in Germany. Renner worked on Futura between 1924 and 1926 and it was officially released in 1927. Renner, a member of the Deutscher Werkbund (German Association of Craftsmen), a group of people who focused on elevating aesthetic qualities in commercial products (Burke). In addition to his experience working in Werkbund, Renner was also inspired by the New Typography movements including the Bauhaus school. His experience around Werkbund and the movements inspired the overall creation of Futura.
Futura is based on basic geometrical shapes including circle, triangle, and square, a principle that Renner got inspired from the Bauhaus wherein, artists,
