Furby Vs Lego

From the time that I was a toddler, I was always cheerfully asking my mother for “boy toys” because they allowed creativity to flow. Specifically I wanted the huge Star Wars Lego set of the Death Star because it contained millions of tiny and intricate pieces. Although I was never gifted the Death Star, in replacement my mother would buy me colorful sets that contained instructions for building Lego houses, or making a dog park. Over time, I gradually took all of these figurines that I had built apart, and I found myself with an array of blocks of different colors, sizes, and functions. With this collection I would create my own beautiful masterpiece that required no instructions. The disorderly order of this project I had made ignited my interest in creation; I knew from that point forward that I wanted to collect all of the knowledge needed in order to make an innovative designs. …show more content…
One day specifically, I found myself dissatisfied with not knowing how my Furby worked. “How is this toy speaking to me and moving at the same time?” This thought led me to extract all of the Furby’s electrical innards. I unscrewed my Furby’s battery compartment, and removed it which allowed me to observe the tiny wires that were attached to it. But just this would not allow me to see enough. I had to remove the Furby’s fur. Living in a household where scissors were easily accessible to a 5 year old I could easily take off the Furby’s fur. With the fur removed I could clearly see its speaker and its complex circuit board. Although I could not fully grasp the science behind the Furby’s mechanics, it led me to pose an important question “ If someone can figure out to build a Furby, what else can they make? Thus my journey of learning about different sciences
