The narrator in “Premature Burial” starts with explaining many cases of others being buried prematurely and what put them in those situations. Through amplification of others individual experiences, he foreshadows a tone of suspense leading to his own personal fear of being buried alive. The narrator describes that upon awakening from a normal sleep that he, “could never gain, at once, thorough possession of [his] senses, and always remained, for many minutes, in much bewilderment and perplexity” Cite Source.
