The whole room was spinning, while bile rose from her throat onto the hardwood floor where she landed with a thud. Quickly, my dad reached for his phone calling the therapist while I went to my mother to make sure she hadn’t hurt herself. Her eyes, evident with exhaustion, fluttered open with unshed tears. I gently smoothed her hair and murmured soothing words while my dad spoke to the doctor. My mom with shaky arms started pulling herself up with my help. On another day, one cloudy and dreary morning, I woke to the sound of my mom calling out my name. I rushed to her room and found her crying from the pain of her head. She kept mumbling her friends name, Ines, while giving me the phone. I dialed Ines’ phone number and she immediately picked …show more content…
We all needed a change of scenery, some more than others, and I am grateful for mentioning it to my dad during one of our midnight conversations after dealing with mother and the children. The doctors finally found a way to end her BPPV using the epley maneuver, shifting the ear particles in her head.
Every one of us has a chore to do in the house, laughs are shared at the table after eating a nice home cooked meal made from the designated chef of that day, family exercising has become a habit for all of us to enjoy. My siblings and my education has become my main focus, and obstacles only prove to be a test on my strength which I face head on. Nothing can phase me anymore, and any teenage problems seem diminutive compared to the horrors I have experienced, bringing amusement and tears to my eyes.
My mother with her radiant smile, bright eyed and rosy cheeks, holding hands with my father, both surrounded by three shrieking kids and an energetic dog in the park, while I sit nearby with a book in my hand. Reminiscing about all we’ve been through and glad that it's over, I feel at peace, watching my family enjoying themselves, happy and healthy. Life can’t get any easier than
