In a time of financial crisis, eliminating all unnecessary funding it pertinent. So why, should we continue funding the arts in K-12 and the National Endowment of the Arts (NEA)? Especially when the NEA wastes their resources. Not to mention do we really want the NEA to expose pornography that their funding to our children. There are so many different reasons why we should cut the arts programs in schools and the NEA in general including the money we’d save, the arts will continue to blossom without the NEA, and the NEA lowers the American quality of art. I understand that they are opposing views such as how the arts benefit children. The opposing side will talk about how arts can help with problem solving and critical thinking skills, how children learn from graphics and visuals, how it helps children with a sense of innovation, and how arts helps academic performance. However, there are so many different ways to learn problem solving and critical thinking, such as any other class they will take. Along with this, the point of learning from graphic and visuals is based on their learning before they are able to read. Most children are exposed to images and learn to read before being exposed to arts classes. Finally, as for academic performance, that is for children who enjoy those art classes. Not all the children enjoy those classes; the same results would be seen if that child played and enjoyed playing a sport. None of these compare to how much money our country could…
