It is considered opposite to the initial model because it focuses on holistic care in all aspect of patient care. Synergy nursing care model was designed by the American Association of Critical-care Nurse to match the nurse’s competence with the needs, characteristics of patients and the clinical unit (Swickard, Swickard, Reimer, Lindell, & Winkelman., 2014). Swickard et al., further identified eight characteristics of patients and eight characteristics of nurses from the model. In which ‘Clinical judgment, advocacy and moral agency, caring practices, collaboration, systems thinking, response to diversity, facilitation of learning, and clinical inquiry’ are related to nursing competency while ‘resiliency, vulnerability, stability, complexity, resource availability, participation in care, participation in decision making, and predictability’ are fundamental characteristics of patients in the model (2014 p. 18). In due of my search, I realized that every healthcare organization has a unique structured healthcare delivery system, that is guarded by the nursing care model guidelines for nursing application. The nurse’s optimum goal is to provide the best possible care as well as maintaining safety and wellbeing of their patients. Nursing care models motivate nurses to utilize their skills/experience and appropriate interventions to achieve maximum patient’s goal. As discussed in the above scenario, nurses in the long-term care facility have no valuable time to build a patient-nurse relationship because of the massive workload, leading to exhaustion and dissatisfaction. The objective of the synergy nursing care model is to optimize the care provided to patients, assuring patients’ safety, as well as providing comfortable work environment with satisfaction. The evidence that was presented verifies that synergy nursing models for professional nursing practice results in better quality patient outcomes (Kaplow & Reed, 2008). Therefore, in my opinion, organizations, nurses and residents would benefit significantly if the synergy nursing care model is adopted as a professional model of care in long-term care facility, especially in our nursing homes. It would result in a better work environment for residents
