Functional conflict is shown in the film when the interns receive a challenge of having to work in a call centre as a Google helpline. Mr. Chetty gives clear instructions that all interns must log into their accounts so that he can review their work later, but Billy did not do that.

Billy causes his team to lose and feels that he has let the team down and that he is a failure. He gives up in himself but Nick pulls him back to the team. Billy made a mistake because he was distracted and not concentrating, which you could say is one of his downfalls. Billy learnt from this mistake and this is an example of functional conflict, and not only did he learn from this mistake, but it showed the closeness of the team when we see how sad they are when he is gone and try to get him back which she is true teamwork.

“Forks over Knives”, a documentary film directed by Lee Fulkerson released in 2011, examines the career of the physician Cardwell Esselstyn, and the nutritional biochemistry professor Collin Campbell, to suggest that degenerative diseases that affect most of the society could be controlled—or maybe reversed—by avoiding the presence of processed and animal-based foods. In this documentary, Fulkerson promotes a plant-based and a low-fat whole-food diet as a suggestion to combat the number of diseases related to bad eating habits. In addition, “Forks over Knives” supports an analysis made from the 20-year China-Cornell-Oxford Project, which led the findings of Professor Campbell. In his findings, he recommends that diseases such as diabetes, obesity,…

He points out that most organizations attempt to avoid all conflict; and therefore, leaders never communicate what they really think which breads mistrust and employee angst. Therefore, in an attempt to teach readers how to master conflict, Lencioni displays The Conflict Continuum which show the difference between destructive and constructive conflict. His point is that a cohesive leadership team needs to remain right in the middle not attempting to alleviate the tension, but rather use that tension to unearth the best ideas and solutions. Finally, focusing on results brings a cohesive leadership together like nothing else.…

Gun control is one of many contemporary social problems that has created a lot of controversy and disagreement between a variety of groups in the United States. Underlying this issue as well as others is the Conflict Theory, one of the few traditions highlighted by Randall Collins in his book, Four Sociological Traditions. Disagreements can arise from individual beliefs that end up opposing one another, and once these conflicts reach their tipping point, one side become alienated, and change begins to be fought for. In the present day, there is so much disagreement that it makes the Conflict Theory one of the most relevant traditions for explaining and understanding society as it currently is due to the constant disagreements between people.…

The TedTalk was really inspiring and was a great perspective on conflict. This is definitely the first time I have ever learned about conflict being a positive instead of a negative. I liked this viewpoint because it helps encourage a more positive lifestyle and it gives proof of how conflict can be used for good. At the end of the video, the speaker mentioned how conflict is always with us even for a whole week, which is then a whole week of our lives spent worrying about this conflict. Therefore, it is crucial to understand the ways to turn conflict into something that can serve others and drive extraordinary innovations as mentioned in the video.…

What are the major contraries or tensions in this story? The major conflicts or tensions in my story would be an old self versus a new self, type of conflict, where I begin to see myself differ from the type of person I was, I became restless and cranky since there was no power. Something I was used to when I lived in the Dominican Republic. Also, I could talk about how this event brought me and my sister together and remember me of when I was little and played games with my sister instead of watching TV or using my phone all the time. Another type of conflict I could go through in my essay is old values versus new values that threaten, challenge, or otherwise disrupt old values, where I would talk about how the disasters that came with hurricane Irma brought the neighborhood closer.…

For my film analysis, I chose to analyze the movie “The Outsiders” directed by Francis Ford Coppola and based on the novel “The Outsiders” by S. E. Hinton. In this movie, a gang of outcasts from the north side of town called the Greasers are always fighting against a rival group called the Socials, who are the rich jocks from the south side of town. The story follows two young Greasers, Johnny and Ponyboy, who aren’t like the others. These two see that fighting is pointless, but it’s just the way they live their life. The two boys get into a fight with some Socials and end up killing one.…
