Functional Areas of Business
“A manager is someone who oversees the work of people in different functional areas of an organization so that the goals of the business can be accomplished” (Robbins & Coulter, 2012, Chapter 1). The different functional areas of a business include management, law, human resources, leadership, accounting, finance, economics, research and statistics, operations management, marketing, and strategic planning. The role of a manager in each area is vital for he must make sure that the goals are met in an effective and timely manner. All the functional areas of a business are intertwined that if one area fails to meet a goal, all the other areas may fail as well. In order to accomplish the goals of a company, there must be effective managers in each functional area of the organization.
Management, Law, Human Resources, and Leadership
Management is needed in all types of organizations, big or small. Management is seen in hospitals, in retail stores, at nail salons, etc. In every business, there is a law that needs to be followed. “Managers use business law to make sure that the company’s operations are legally sound and that it is in compliance with all state, federal, and international regulations” (University of Phoenix, 2014).
