Colonel Mustang and Lieutenant Hawkeye recruit Edward and Alphonse because of their ability to use Alchemy. Edward and Alphonse were around the age of seven years old when their mother passed away. The Elric brothers exercise Human Transmutation, a form of Alchemy that brings back the dead. Performing this means they needed to sacrifice something for what they were trying to get. Consequently, the Law of Equivalent Exchange took Edwards arm and Alphonses’ whole body. Nevertheless, Edward gave up his leg to bring Alphonses’ soul back and bind it to a suit of armor. To no avail, they were not able to get their mother back. Thus, their expedition began to obtain their bodies. Colonel Mustang and Lieutenant Hawkeye are also my favorite. These characters are comparable to the brothers when it comes to their allegiance to one another. Mustang will do anything for Hawkeye because she gave him the power of Flame Alchemy. Moreover, Hawkeye will do anything for Mustang because he has always protected her. Mustang entrusts Hawkeye to keep him on the righteous path to become King of Amestris. The show is overflowing with faith that everything good will come to the Elric brothers and all characters who have sacrificed so much throughout the TV show. Although it ended in 2011, it has had a lasting impact on the audience. The series is appraised at 9/10 by well-regarded critics.
