American Dream is the dream of a land in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement. It is not a dream of motor cars and high wages, but a dream of social order in which each man and each woman shall be able to achieve the fullest stature of which they are capable of, and be recognized by others for what they are, regardless of the of birth or position. It is not a fact if you born poor. American dream could be achieved from any life position. It could be gain by the legal and illegal way. Sometimes it is achievable but it is not sustainable. The whole story was narrated by Nick. The story was based on Gatsby and his love. Gatsby consider himself that he was born from a wealthy Midwestern family, his parents were dead, and he was educated at Oxford per family tradition. He told this to Nick while going to town (Fitzgerald.65). But Later Nick found out everything was a lie. Gatsby’s real name was James Gats. He changed his name when he was seventeen years old. He was poor and lived in North Dakota. He left his family before world war I (Fitzgerald.98). Gatsby also said,“I am the son of some wealthy people in the Middle West,” Nick asked what part of the middle west. Gatsby replied, ”San Francisco” (Fitzgerald.65). Nick knew he was lying because San Francisco is not in Middle-West. He had a good friend Mr.Wolfsheim who was a bootlegger. Tom said,"He and this Wolfsheim bought up a lot of side-street drug-stores here and in Chicago and sold grain alcohol over the counter. I picked him for a bootlegger the first time I saw him, and I wasn't far wrong."(Fitzgerald.133). Mr.Wolfsheim was also the person who fixed the 1919 World Series (Fitzgerald.73). Gatsby was hanging around with gambler or might be a criminal. There had been a lot of rumors that he had killed someone and he was a German spy but neither of them was proven. Gatsby loved a girl named Daisy. Daisy was from a middle-class family but Gatsby was poor at that time. That’s why they could not get married. Gatsby had not seen Daisy for five years. Although, she lived front of his house. Every Friday was a party day at his house. He gave parties for whole New York. Jordan Baker said,“Anyhow, he gives large parties.” All the celebrities came to his parties. He basically was living in his American Dream as a Rich man but his personal goal was to meet with Daisy.
