Fugue Analysis

The group I was in performed “Fugue.” Christian was our director. In the play, Erin played Amy, Katelyn played Lizzy, Will played Harry, and I played Gladyce.
The process itself was very relaxed. We would block and work through parts at the same time. Personally, I found it more difficult that way. Notes didn’t sink in as much because they were piled in with blocking. There were times where we’d goof off too much, and, in the end, that really hurt us because our cue pickup wasn’t as strong as it could be. Also, with three of us being in Chalk Circle, the lines weren’t memorized as soon as they could have been because our attention was divided. Christian was very specific with his direction and had a very deep understanding of the play which

First off, the blocking was very well planned. It was set in a living room, but they weren’t stuck on a couch the entire time. When Andre and Gabi were on the couch in the beginning, the articulate was weak. Plus, the interaction between the two of them on the couch didn’t feel like it had a romantic base, but more like a mother patronizing her child. The uninterest Gabi’s character had in the beginning made sense, but that paired with Andre’s childlike indecisiveness in the scene didn’t give the audience the idea that they were romantically involved with each other. Gabi’s physical reaction to Andre’s faux proposal was delayed after her vocal reaction. When Gabi finally accepted the idea of a zombie plan Andre’s excitement didn’t have levels. He never gained excitement or lost it. He stayed at the same level throughout her ranting of the plan. Also, when Gabi was coming up with the plan, it didn’t have the proper spontaneity for the situation. It was like she had the plan the entire time and was just too shy to share it with Andre, but I don’t believe that was the case. Both of them did well with their characterizations. Gabi altered her movement just enough to make herself seem more mature, and it worked nicely. Andre had a very genuine passion about the zombies topic that was fun to watch. The two of them worked nicely together. It seemed as if they were physically comfortable with each other, which was essential for the relationship they shared in the

After seeing the play, Silent Sky, it opened my eyes to all of the inequality that occurred during the time of the early 1900’s. During this time, women didn’t have equal roles as men did when it came to work and opportunities. Silent Sky is an educational play that teaches the lesson on how a person should follow their dreams, never stop fighting for their rights, and not give up on their dreams. The play had five actors, with one actor playing only one character. The main character, Henrietta Leavitt, is an inspiring astronomer who began working at Harvard University.…

On November 22nd , 2015 , I had attended a play “A servant of Two masters” that played downtown Pittsburgh at the O’Reilly theater, the play was directed by Ted Pappas. He had put together a creative and intriguing play, having actors stay spontaneous and interact with the audience, therefore no parts would be found boring nor dry. All the actors had held up their end of their roles quite well, by fully disguising themselves as that character they were suppose to be during the entire play. In the play “A Servant of Two masters” is about a girl Clarice who originally had an arranged marriage but was called off due to her fiancé death, who was Federigo Rasponi of Turin.…

Refried Elvis is a swiftly paced parody that packs a Presley punch. With familiar tunes and modern jokes, it’s fun for the whole family. From beginning to end it’s as smart as it is funny, and guaranteed to entertain. I found the acting to be nearly impeccable, as all on stage seemed entirely committed to their characters, actions, and intent. No matter how serious or silly the scene, I found the believability to be there.…

I was fortunate enough to be able to attend a production of ''The Diviners,'' on Sunday, March the Nineteenth. The performance was put on by the Calhoun Community College theatre department. The play was staged in the black box theatre of The Alabama Center for the Arts in Decatur, Alabama. It was an impressive performance especially when considering the size and arrangement of the stage. Even with such limitations, the cast were able to turn the stage into a window into prohibition era Indiana.…

Dissociative Fugue is one of many in a group of dissociative disorders, which are characterized by chronic failures of integration of consciousness, memory, identity, perception, or even emotion. They often lose their sense of personal identity and feel the need to impulsively wander away from work or their homes, and sometimes travel many miles during the “fugue” state. Once they have returned to their normal state of mind, any actions that were taken during the fugue state are not recalled. Onsets of Fugue state is usually sudden and usually related to traumatic events within a person’s life, often times it is linked if they suffered from child abuse. Recovery is also usually sudden and often times complete, though the fugue state may end…

For the scenes re-enactment project, my group and I did the research and re-enactment on a Marx Brothers film in 1933, called Duck Soup. The story revolves around the country of Freedonia, which is on the verge of bankruptcy when its benefactor Mrs. Teasdale finally insists that Rufus T. Firefly become the president. Seeing such event as an opportunity to seek control, Trentino, the ambassador of the bordering country of Sylvania, sends in spies, Pinky and Chicolini, in hope of a revolution. During the course of the story, Firefly and Trentino clashes in a lot of ways, which finally leads to an all-out war between Freedonia and Sylvania. Despite, the film involves the topics of wars and politics, it still remains the nature of Marx Brothers’…

In Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest, Wilde uses satire to ridicule the strict expectations of marriage and the Victorian aristocracy. He breaks from what is socially acceptable by creating extravagant situations and including eccentric characters. With its outlandish scenarios, “Wilde now uses, as plot, a purely farcical intrigue” (135 Roditi). The play involves changing of identity, misunderstanding lovers, and unexpected surprises. Each act leads to the events of the next act keeping the audience interested and amused.…

The film and book of A River Runs Through It really resonated with my love for the outdoors and brought attention to the similarities the Maclean family has with mine. Great sense of community arose from being able to partake in activities that connected multiple students together over an English assignment that was based off experiential education. The English department should keep up the common activities that is based from a book the department must read for the semester. For people that are not big readers this assignment sparks a little more interest for other students because not only did you have to read a book you also had to pursue other choices of the common discusses or activities. The book, film, and activities helped conjoin a community, connected the curriculum, and the subject being material that…

This class has absolutely changed the way that I look at almost any sport. It was such a fun, interesting, and overall amazing learning experience. I have always had the utmost respect for anyone with some form of a disability, but this has opened my eyes to how anyone can modify a game to cater to any disability. Even if the game loses almost every rule that made it that sport or game. For example in flag football that we modified, and played it was played more like rugby than football.…

I attended the Stones River Chamber Players on February 29th. This was played in the Hilton Music Hall. When I was going in I did not know what to expect because I have never been to a music concert on the MTSU campus. There were around 60-70 people who attended this concert. Most of the individuals who attended were more than likely there for a class because more than half were students who did not understand the concept of staying off of their phone.…
