Fruit Of Christianity

It may be easy to draw this conclusion since the Bible does not use today’s slang or apply principles to today’s occurring issues. Being able to discern between whats Biblically right or wrong is a strong trait Christians should have. Luckily, the Bible does explain some strong attributes that all Christians should portray. In the New Testament there is a list of the fruits of the Spirit and it goes through nine different characteristics that show that the Spirit lives within someone. The document starts off by explaining why God made man different from another, and cites several reasons. He argues that man should help one another in times of trouble. He mentions that they should" ...love thy neighbor as he loves himself" (Winthrop 1). Winthrop believes that they should display "love to an enemy" and that they should give beyond their abilities, but they must serve God first. Winthrop says that Christianity is bound by love, and it is love that causes people to do things out of sympathy, kindness, and the goodness of their hearts.…

At face value, the story of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight tells of a knight who is challenged by a Green Knight to show the decline in the knighthood, but that is only the literal interpretation. Throughout the story, there are many parallels to the Christian faith seen. The Green Knight places the young knight in a trial just like God might do to Christians. The Green Knight mentions that if Gawain seeks him, then he will be found which is very similar to when Christ says that if we seek, we shall find. The motif of the number three as seen in the Bible for example Peter denying Christ three times and Christ rising after the third day is seen, as well.…

    3. In this excerpt by Jonathon Edward's, "A sinner in the Hands of an Angry God," Edwards, as a prominent Puritan leader and minister, emphasizes that God is angry and death can happen at any moment. Within his sermon, Edwards warns that is "nothing but the meer Pleasure of God" that keeps a person from falling into the depths of hell. He emphasizes this point to persuade his congregation to truly give themselves to God. While many may keep the pretense of good Christians, it is only through true faith that will lead people to salvation.…

Eternal security is the conviction that once salvation is obtained, God will prevent falling away. This is in opposition to conditional security, which states a believer can lose their salvation if they continue to live in sin. I personally believe that Scripture teaches Christian eternal security. Paul taught security is not from individual achievement (Eph. 2:8-9). Additionally, the believer is permanently sealed through the Holy Spirit (Eph. 4:30).…

Starting off this class with reading what Family Ministry is defined as opened up my view on how Family Ministry can be diverse in a variety of understanding. Diana Garland stated that “family ministry is any activity that directly or indirectly (1) forms families in the congregation community; (2) increases the Christlikeness of the family relationships of Christians; or (3) equips and supports families for the work to which they are called together.” Earlier in the reading she stated that “The flurry of programs called family ministry is the fear that Christian families are falling apart and need churches to strengthen and support them.” Diana Garland’s definition is what I strive for in ministry and I believe that she also is aware…
