In the dramatic, but sadly realistic book Wintergirls, Laurie Halse Anderson tells the story of Lia, an anorexic teenager, after her closest friend Cassie mysteriously dies in a motel room. This engrossing book is suspenseful and breath-taking as Lia and her family take on many challenges and obstacles. More specifically, Wintergirls deals with real world problems such as children actually not eating and cutting themselves because they believe it cures their pain when they don’t even feel safe in their own bodies. This story of the challenges and responses in young teeenagers provides a frequently disturbing but important look into these real-life challenges that kids may go through. I found this story to be extremely sad and a bit disturbing,…

On July 21st, 1969 the world received a baby girl that would one day become one of the most intriguing, amiable and hardworking fashion photographers to date. Born as an only child, Cheryl’s younger years were filled with great love from her parents and grandparents, along with loneliness due to her lack of siblings. This loneliness is what Cheryl says sparked her love for pets and more importantly her creativity. From training her Weiner dog Jake to run through the colorful jungle gyms of her neighborhood, to embellishing the walls of her childhood home with Crayola masterpieces of “the bunny people,” it is apparent that Cheryl’s creative mind was fostered as a young child. However, due to the “Leave It to Beaver” nature of her parents and the home they created for her, Cheryl’s artistic mind was not always praised and supported.…

I recommend that successful actress Kate Hudson be selected as our newest endorser for the Nike brand. She would be a perfect fit for our upcoming tennis shoe launch and would allow us to reach a different customer base. By Ms. Kate Hudson owning her athletic clothing line, Fabletics, this allows us to reach more of the everyday person and not just athletes. I’m proposing using her success in business and on the big screen as a platform to reach a wider audience, thus increasing profits. This will offer a better launch with new products and higher sales.…
