The Big Era of Writing During the 1970’s, writing was so popular that it was the main priority for people around the world. By the time the 21st century was reached, writing became a recessive priority due to the fact that new technologies are developed for people to use. Explanations why the writing was so popular back then is that they were so many events that happened around the world, people wanted to talk about it. Another factor that occurred was that there were a vast majority of classes that people thought they belong in, this inspired the writing to be written in different kinds of novels. World War Two was a very popular topic for writers because everybody around the world during that time knew about the event which led to different people to talk about how they got through the war. From The Painted Bird, written by Jerzy Kosinski, the main character talked about how he felt as a gypsy-Jew during the Holocaust period. Detailed sufferings that occurred during that time was when he was forced to flee from his bed at an unexpected part of the day and go into hiding in the attic. “I barely had the time to leap out of bed before male voices and rattling weapons could be heard surrounding the hut. I hid in the attic with a sack thrown over my body, clinging to a crack in the planks, through which I could see a large part of the farmland” (Kosinski 358). This could make people feel a little empathy when they hear about this because they were people during that time that had no other choice but to live a difficult life compared to other people. A very popular social class theme during the golden era was about parties. In Octavio Paz, The Labyrinth of Solitude, he talks about two different kinds of fiestas. There was one side where there are people followed the rules at a party and they people that are free to do whatever they want at these events. As the years go on people are starting to party with different social classes which unites the community. Paz wrote in the book, “Fiesta is a revolution in the most literal sense of the word. Everything is united: good, evil, day and night, the scared and the profane. Everything merges, loses shape and individuality and returns to a primordial mass” (Paz). Without peoples’ own opinion on having a fiesta, it got everybody together to bond with one another. Although the social class was a gigantic role during the “Golden Era” of writing, discrimination was an important role for authors to talk about during that
