However it was not Hamlet who inflicted a fight, infact it was Laertes own reprisal that got him killed. Both Claudius and Laertes plotted to kill Hamlet for their own selfish reasons which did not end in their favor. They poisoned a cup of wine, in hopes Hamlet would drink from it but that was not the case. Now during the duel between laertes and Hamlet, Laertes had his swords’ blade dipped in the poison as well.
