Frog Vs Toad Research Paper

Most people, understandably, find it difficult to differentiate a frog from a toad. They normally mix them up due to their similar appearances. Although they certainly look similar, the similarities mostly end there, as frogs and toads are very different animals.

Frogs are found in many different shapes, sizes, colors, and textures. Frogs have smooth wet skin, live most of the time in or near water, and sport numerous unusual colors for their large, bulging eyes, including brown, silver, green, gold, and red. Alongside many eye-colors, they also have much variety with their pupils. Some frogs have sticky padding on their feet while others have little webbed feet. If not even all frogs have all of the same qualities, how can we tell what species the little amphibian in our garden is?

Both of them use their long, sticky tongue to grab and gulp down whatever poor insect, bug, or small fish gets in it's path. The frog has a crest of small, conical teeth around the upper jaw to seize the food, but the toad does not have any teeth to speak of. They do, however, share the same general diet. Frogs are generally much more capable swimmers than toads due to their long back feet that also enable them to leap much higher than toads, who are limited to a slightly pitiful hop or a slightly silly looking walk.

To sum up, frogs and toads do seem similar, but most of these similarities are only skin-deep. They have many different qualities regarding shape, size, color, and texture.
