Fritz Deere And George Washington Carver

Improved Essays
The field of study I chose is agriculture. Agriculture is the science, art, or occupation concerned with cultivating land, raising crops, and feeding, breeding, and raising livestock (farming). There have been many influential people to this field of study such as Norman Borlaug, Fritz Haber, George Washington Carver, John Deere, and many more. Agriculture has developed a lot over time. Over 200 years ago, 90 percent of the U.S population lived on farms and produced the foods that are necessary to life, such as fruits, vegetables, meats, and dairy. Today it is said that only 2 percent produce enough food to support them. There are many new techniques in use that weren’t known of some time ago. “Today there are things like motorized equipment, …show more content…
He brought this to many countries around the world such as Pakistan, India, and Mexico, which helped save a billion people worldwide from starvation. This is why I think he is the most influential person to his field of study, agriculture. Others might argue that Fritz Haber and George Washington Carver are more influential to agriculture due to the work they have done. Fritz Haber was well known for his work in chemistry, but he contributed greatly to agriculture as well. He developed the Haber Process, which is the process of ammonia synthesis. He made it possible to take nitrogen out of the air and convert it into nitrogen that plants can use. This led to the development of inexpensive nitrogen fertilizer. Even today people rely on this process to help raise food. It is said that his process helped feed countless numbers of human beings. George Washington Carver is known to be the man who saved the agricultural economy of the rural south with his development in peanut products mostly. He developed new products from peanuts, which resulted in a sky-rocketing of the market for peanuts. George also helped out in war during World War I. He helped develop more than 30 colors of dye when there was a struggle to obtain them. Although both of those scientists were very influential to agriculture, I believe that Norman Borlaug’s work outlasts theirs. He helped save billions of lives from starvation in countries all around the world. He developed semi-dwarf, high-yield, disease-resistant wheat varieties and spread this to multiple continents, which helped feed countless numbers of people. That is why I believe his contribution to agriculture was greater than all

He was able to avoid what would 've been a treacherous war with France, work to his own accord when surround by a cabinet that barley supported him, and some of Adams ' decisions made way for some things much more than what people though they would turn out to be. Indeed Adams was at times rather vain and arrogant, he even said so himself ("Thanks be to God, that he gave me Stubborness, when I know I am right") (McCullough, 272) and wanted the recognition that instead Washington and Jefferson received instead, but truly, for as much as those two men did, Adams truly did more than he is accounted for. Sometimes when no one dared to speak and put a foot forward themselves, it was John Adams who took the initiative to get the work done. One quote, that could, very easily, summon up John Adams ' time in office, and even for a huge portion of his life was said by himself, “Always stand on principle….even if you stand…
