We first talked about hedonism and how is the desire for pleasure but touch upon the topic of freedom and choice. Freedom and choice are sort polar opposites since we have freedom but we are limited by our world of what we can choose. People at Bard have a diversity of hobbies such as kickboxing or, something out the norm like, playing ultimate frisbee. I do play ultimate frisbee and I think that it makes me authentic. I had the freedom to chose what I want to do and I chose to play ultimate which makes me authentic in some way. Not a lot of people play ultimate frisbee when I come from would say that I’m authentic. In other words, humans are naturally meant to be diverse and individual, but we’ve grown terrified of being ourselves no matter how different, because of society.
