Fringe Research Paper

Overall Theme
When fall comes around a lot of people resort to boring baggy sweaters to get them through it; however, fringe is a major trend this season and is used for different functions (wgsn-seoul). This new trend will add a fun, flirty, and possibly even edgy feel to this fall and winter. Fringe will be seen lining hems, as an asymmetrical detail, and decorating sleeves(wgsn-seoul). It will also be used to create illusions and moods with alternate colors, fabrics, and lengths(wgsn-christa). The normal burnt reds and oranges are being pushed to the side this season and dusty pastels and neutrals are coming into play (pantone color). These colors and the leathers, suede, yarn, and other materials used will compliment the popular fring skirt, bag, and jacket.

The fashion colors are made up of toned down pastels such as a rose, blush, country blue, lilac purple, and a darker sea foam green(citation). Fringe is usually portrayed in natural colors due to the fabric it is made out of, yet this new idea of adding color adds a twist and reinvents the entire idea of fringe.
Fabric
Leather, suede, threads, and yarn will make up most of the fringe this season (christa). Suede is the classic material when thinking of anything suede; however, leather brings an edgy feel, bulky yarns give a comfy yet chic look, and thinner strands of thread give off a light, delicate vibe. Therefore, even within this trend there are many different styling options to change the feel of a look.
Inspirations
This trend was taken from Seoul Fashion Week and was used in multiple designers collections (seoul). From New York, Paris, and London fringe is seen everywhere. It also has been taking to the streets and captured in street style

Lone Wolf’s early life experiences took place within the Native community that had few material resources, and little economic or political control, due to a militaristic federal government imposed program that attempted to indoctrinate American Indians. The intent of boarding schools was to force American Indian youths to become United States citizens by removing them from their Native culture. During Lone Wolf’s childhood, the program was implemented across the country, and many public schools barred or discouraged American Indian children from attending. When it comes to the topic of style, most of us readily agree that the clothing worn during the Anglo-Saxon times compared to the twenty first century is incompatibly different. Where this agreement usually end, however, is on the question of “did they dress appropriately according to there time period?” Whereas some are convinced that the style was tasteless and rare, others maintain that this was “normal”, but what exactly is normal. My own view of Anglo-Saxon dress is that it was unique and clothing showed what life, to them, was. Style can be expressed in a variety of ways whether it is through clothing, the decor of things, or the way one speaks.…
