The second friendship I think of is Antony and Octavius. This friendship is a political alliance because in act 4 scene one, when Antony talks about how him and Octavius should team up because of Brutus and Cassius. This supports the theory that their friendship is a mere political alliance because Antony himself states that Octavius and him should ally because of a political matter. Instability can be found in the battle of Philippi when Antony says, “Octavius, lead your battle softly on, Upon the left hand of the even field.” and Octavius follows up with “Upon the right hand I; keep thou the left.”. This may seem insignificant, but it demonstrates that Octavius is not loyal to Antony and he thinks his decisions are better.
