“When you’re up in life, your friends get to know who you are. When you’re down in life, you get to know who your friends are.” -Anonymous. The first example of when Max and Kevin are working together is when Kevin assists Max in his education. In the text, Kevin aided Max in learning by teaching him vocabulary words from his personal dictionary, explaining the concept of writing in an approach that Max could easily understand, and helping the teachers to understand Max and his learning. Freak and Max needed each other for that short period in their life. Stated from the text, on page 31, Freak made fun of Tony D and his gang by calling them “cretin” which stalled the gang from almost killing them. If Max were alone at that point, being as small inside as he is, it would not end well. Freak uses his smart ways and makes fun of them and that really helps to make more time for them to escape. Also, on page 81, Max states “If I don’t know, then Freak will tell me and he’ll say it in a way I can understand, which is a lot better than Mrs. Donelli can do.” That’s really nice of Kevin because Max has a learning disability and to do that is so generous.…

Max and Kevin also go through…
