A friendship is a comfortable place like the image of home. You finally get home after a long day, slip off your shoes, loosen up, and take a deep breathe while whispering “Ahhhhhhhhhhh, home.” There are aspects in life that everybody craves and most of them make up an in depth friendship such as, trust, empathy, loyalty, and support. Friendships happen to be a challenging form of a relationship at times and this is why is it is so necessary that we reflect upon them. This ensures that they will not diminish under the pressures of everyday life. There are loads to be said about friendships. Start by actively reaching out to interesting people while seeking deeper connections, possibly even risking embarrassment or rejection. The greatest friends are formed through baby steps and require people to push up their sleeves and do a little bit of work. Start by simply saying hello (maybe even add a smile or wink), know that you don’t always have to become friends straightaway. You will work your way past just a simple hello and eventually ask to hang out or grab a bite to eat. Clubs, sports, and certain social events are all helpful gateways to meeting new people if you are on the shyer side. From ages 3-4 being considered a “friend” was not a rarity if you performed a nice act or made you giggle that day you were able to hold that title.
