Life is full of many obstacles and challenges that get in the way of the things that you
Want. The novel, Black and White, by Paul Volponi, shows this in the journey to their dreams through the protagonist’s Eddie and Marcus. They high school boys are looking for a scholarship to a college on a basketball opportunity. Two friends, one black, one white, an unlikely pair in a town full of racism. They will figure out how to work together throughout these tough times. Marcus and Eddies friendship, Goals, and perseverance will show how the connections between best friends, can overcome any obstacle as long as they work together. Marcus and Eddies friendship has been very strong to a point until they start pushing each other's limits. When Marcus and Eddie realized that they needed money and needed it quick, they decided that the only way was to do stick ups and steal it from people. This goal may not have been the brightest idea on, into the world, but it worked and they were able to get the money needed. They worked together to overcome the obstacle of not enough money and they did this together and build their relationship because of the time spent together and the work put in the finish the job. They knew that it would be very dangerous, so they kept it on a low key and They worked quietly to make sure that there wasn’t a way that they could keep up and snitch and get caught.
