Friendship Essay: The Meaning Of True Friendship

Improved Essays
What do you think the meaning of true friendship is, maybe it's knowing that you trust a certain person with any secret or physical object, somebody who would take a bullet for you, or maybe it's somebody that you've grown up with all your life. Everybody has their own definition of ¨true friendship.¨ I personally believe that true friendship is when two people can trust each other with just about anything, they let you succeed and fail on your own, but they always help you when it is most important. I dislike it when people say a true friend doesn't ¨snitch¨ or lets you copy off their paper for test or more important assignment. This shows that they don't see the other person as a friend, and more as a ¨get out of jail free¨ card. Some people …show more content…
There isn’t very much to talk about here, I had two friends, one taller than me and one shorter, I can seem to remember either of their names unfortunately. One thing I do remember is doing that easter egg hunt they for the younger kids in elementary school and just laughing the whole time. Kindergarten was an underwhelming time, I was so young that there’s only about two or three memories that still stick with me. First grade was also pretty boring when I think of it, my only friend that I can remember is Jassiah, not sure how to spell his name, and the main reason I think we were friends was because we were both Washington Redskins fans at the time. The only memory I can think of is when we were at field day and both got Indian based face paint and we thought it was the coolest thing in the world. Second grade was interesting in its own way. I don’t have any memories of friends from then. I know I had friends but I guess none of them were that memorable. Third grade is our final stop for now. Third grade I could say was one of the best times of my life when it comes to friends. That was the year I met Cody Erickson, who has been one of my best friends since. I consider him one of my best friends because I know I can trust him and that he will let me fail or succeed on my own, but most importantly, I know that he’ll help me when I …show more content…
Fourth grade was when I met many friends like Dan, Jayden, Emily, and Myah. Dan and Jayden were kind of my “nerdy” friends. I liked hanging out with each of them cause we talked about pokemon and we were all smart so we talked about how easy school was to us at that point. Emily and Myah were sort of the total opposite. They were both also very smart but we just never talked about assignments that much. They were kind of like my “normal” best friends. When I think back on it, I’m not sure why we were even friends, we weren’t very alike but we just ended up being friends. The strangest memory I have of them is when they asked out this girl for and she said no, but then they asked out another girl for me and she said yes, unfortunately, that's the only memory I have of them. Fifth grade was a year where I had three main friends, Jayden, Andrew, and Casey. I don’t have many memories from that year but I do know that we had many laughs hanging out by ourselves, and staying away from the other kids. In sixth grade I had many friend groups. There were only two that I can remember all the people involved. One was when I was friends with Faith, Seth, and Karina, that was just because the teacher sat us together and so we felt like we were kind of forced to. I also had this group we called the “Animal Crew.” The whole thing was that we all had our own animal, I was a wolf, Cody was a lizard, Jacob

Robin Henig discusses these concerns in her article “What is it About 20-Somethings?” by writing on the topic of emerging adulthood, a period before adulthood that sociologists believe may be a new distinct life stage. Henig addresses the idea that young people in America have put off the traditional milestones such as completing school, leaving home, becoming financially independent, marrying and having a child. More recently, technology and the use of social media have become popular and prevalent among young adults and children, a point Maria Konnikova brings up in her article “The Limits of Friendship.”…
