The movie City Lights was not officially a silent film because it had the sound effects, but if it just went with being a talkie it would have been completely different and in my opinion not for the better. Back then they had the option of choosing whether or not to be a color film or a black and white film. But they still decided to go with what they did for a reason. The comedy in the movie would not have been the type of comedy if it had been a talkie. Plus talkies are not the type of movies that Chaplin are accustom to.…

The instructions that they have to follow are so simple such as being told to run a “go” by their coaches. A “go” is when the wide receiver just runs straight down the field and the quarterback throws him the football. It is that simple. "Texas Forever" is a mantra Tim Riggins, the main character in the television series, Friday Night Lights, lives by. The premise of the show is how an entire town base their dreams on the game of football and we learn those dreams do not come without compromise. It is easy to identify with the characters in Friday Night Lights because their lives and their situations are believable. When we base our life upon a dream or the person we believe we deserve to be, it can be a tragedy or it can be motivational, especially if that spiritual place is not a place at all, but a feeling, a hope or a dream.…

One of the most important positions on the football field is the defensive line. Most people think that it is all about running to the quarterback but little do they know it is all about technique. A lineman knows the steps to become a good defensive lineman. In order to become a good defensive lineman, a player must line up in a 3 or 5 technique, get in a 3 or 4 point stance, and briefly know the gap responsibility. First, the defensive line must line up in what a defensive coach or coordinator call a “3 or 5 technique”.…

The film Friday Night Lights (2004) is based on the real-life story of the 1988 Permian Panthers football team in Odessa, Texas. The film follows Coach Gary Gaines, portrayed by Billy Bob Thornton, and his talented group of football players as they try to navigate through the season with the goal of winning the State championship. The pressure is on for the boys in the film, where they receive stressors from not only their sport and coaches, but also the townspeople and their parents as well. The town is overtly obsessed with football, so much so that they accost the players and Coach Gaines in public to question their strategies and if they’re going to win. Since the film is set in this football-obsessed town, one way to change things around is to shift it to a town that isn’t so crazy about the sport.…
