The first artwork is the Weeping Woman, made by Pablo Picasso. It was created in 1973 in France while in the period of Pablo Picasso Cubism. It was made as an oil on canvas and is 60 x 49cm painting. For example they both use a uneven balance of dark and light colour, well at least for The Weeping woman and Garden Life. There are more of a brighter colour selection then darker colours, there are still dark colours but not as much as light. The dark colours are really there to make a distinction towards a certain part of there body. For both of these artworks the colour yellow is used significantly, they are complementary as they make the artwork stand a lot more then it normally would without this yellow. In both of the artworks the warm colours are largely present in a significant part of the paintings, as thats a majority of the colours in both artworks. Both of the artworks have a very distinct use of form, in Picasso's artwork you can obviously see that his forms are more noticable within the face because of his painting style of cubism. However Frida's face reflects her style of realism. Her face is well curved and uses realist techniques making the shape or her face realistic. The only difference is that Picasso is more noticable because when you look at Picasso artwork the face is distorted and really you can't miss the difference. One difference in the The Weeping Woman and Garden Life is the proportion. Picasso's artwork has a variety of shapes in the face and all of these shapes have very different sizes to them which makes the face distorted. Frida's artwork is the totally opposite her face remains intact and doesn't seem bigger in places it shouldn't be. The reason for the difference is simply because of there styles of art.
