They usually depict her in her traditional Mexican clothing, with bright colors and indigenous jewelry. The frequent appearance of “vibrant colors and symbols prevalent in Kahlo's works reflect her Mexican heritage and still serve as powerful icons of Mexican art”(“Who is Frida Kahlo”). Her painting “Self Portrait as a Tiguan” clearly displays her connection to Mexican heritage and her iconic role in MExican art. Her artworks also has strong visual connections with Mexico. In many of her paintings the background in a desert which is common and Mexico. Some also show parrots and other animals that can be found in Mexico’s rainforests. With her strong artwork Frida was actually commissioned by the Mexican government to make five murals, yet she was unable to complete. After her death Frida’s childhood home, the Blue House, was turned into a museum to represent her. Frida Kahlo abandoned her Germanic culture by changing her name form Freida to Frida to be more aligned with MExican culture and was highly influenced by Rivera’s storn gantionslhitl. Diego Rivera, her husband, played a role in supporting her artwork and encouraging her creativity and political activism. Second to her traditional beliefs her political position was extremely important to her and since a young age she supported the communist beliefs. Without a doubt, Frida Kahlo is an iconic, mexican, surrealist, female artist of her time and continues to have a large impact on artistic styles
